Fuel Consumption Calculator
Calculate your car's fuel efficiency in L/100km, MPG, and km/L.
ℹ How it works
L/100km = (litres filled ÷ distance km) × 100. US MPG = 235.214 ÷ L/100km (1 US gallon = 3.785 L). UK MPG = 282.481 ÷ L/100km (1 imperial gallon = 4.546 L). km/L = 100 ÷ L/100km. Source: NIST Handbook 44; UK HMRC Advisory Fuel Rates.
What is L/100km? ▾
L/100km measures how many litres of fuel are needed to travel 100 kilometres. Lower is more efficient. The EU average for new cars is around 6–7 L/100km.
How do I convert L/100km to MPG? ▾
US MPG = 235.214 ÷ L/100km. UK MPG = 282.481 ÷ L/100km. The difference is because the UK uses the imperial gallon (4.546 L) versus the US gallon (3.785 L).
Why does my real-world consumption differ from the official figure? ▾
Official figures are measured under controlled lab conditions (WLTP cycle). Real-world consumption is typically 10–20% higher due to driving style, traffic, temperature, and load.
